GTM and SRL Traffic Systems sign long-term agreement to enhance road worker safety

Go Traffic Management (GTM) has entered into a long-term agreement with SRL Traffic Systems for the supply of REMOS, providing GTM customers with swift and flexible access to what is believed to be the UK’s first scalable remotely operated mobile solution, purpose-built to improve road worker safety, reduce impact for Customers and be less impactful for the environment for short-term schemes.

Developed by SRL (Europe’s largest manufacturer and supplier of portable and temporary Intelligent Transport Systems) – REMOS was created in collaboration with GTM to address the growing need for safer, more efficient traffic signalling at roadworks. Launched in July following extensive trials and customer feedback, the system allows for rapid deployment on short-duration projects.

Under the agreement, GTM will receive an initial 20 REMOS three-way bundles across its national depot network, with plans for a further 70 units to follow in early 2026.

REMOS has integrated radar and CCTV to detect vehicle movement and transmit live camera feeds to SRL’s Control Centre where a team will monitor the traffic and adjust the lights accordingly. SRL estimates that REMOS typically improves traffic flow around roadworks by 30–50% compared to traditional on-site operation. This will also reduce technical issues like lights getting stuck on red leading to a higher customer complaint log.

Improving road worker safety remains a key priority for GTM. According to a recent Stamp It Out campaign, over 60% of road workers and other people working on the public highway get abused daily. REMOS helps reduce these risks by limiting the need for operatives to work in live traffic environments, cutting the potential for incidents, minimising human error, and supporting safer working conditions in all weather.

GTM has supported my career path

I started working for GTM in July 2021 as a traffic Management operative…I then got extra training and achieved my M3-M5 Lantra qualification, GTM has supported my career path and I gained my HGV class 2 licence.
